Student Resources: Technical Support

Before calling the Student Help Desk, check to make sure that you are:

  • Using a compatible browser
  • Using the correct version of Java
  • Checking the News section to see if there is a system outage.
  • Contacting your instructor to see that you are enrolled in the course.

To help you make this process easier, choose Configure Your Browser under the Technical Support section on the side menu to the left.

Some students have technical problems in courses because they are not using the recommended version of Java. If you are experiencing problems such as the ones listed at "Java Problem Symptoms" it may be because you are not using the recommended version of Java. To check your Java version and replace it, if necessary, follow these step-by-step instructions for Windows users or for Mac users.

In our ongoing evaluation of the Blackboard Vista Faculty & Student Resources site, we noticed that some of the web addresses to specific items could be quite lengthy when it comes to typing them. In working with Central Web Support, we were able to create a list of alias web addresses which will hopefully save us all some time and make things a little easier. You will notice that all of the QuickLinks begin the same way, "ecampussupport.unt.edu/".
